EEG Services
Standard EEG
Recording of a minimum of 20 minutes duration plus setup and lead removal time. Typical booking duration is 1 hour. Activation/Stimulation procedures are performed as part of this test including Photic Stimulation – a series of flashing lights (this can be modified for light sensitive patients or those with sensory issues), and hyperventilation (steady over-breathing).
Sleep Deprived EEG
Performed the day after reduced sleep duration the night before. Recording duration is typically 45min-1 hour, plus setup and lead removal time. Typical booking duration is 90 minutes to allow extended recordings where needed. Activation/Stimulation procedures are performed as part of this test including Photic Stimulation – a series of flashing lights (this can be modified for light sensitive patients or those with sensory issues), and hyperventilation (steady over-breathing).
Nap EEG
Performed to capture wake and sleep in infants (typically younger than 4 years of age). Patient is set up whilst awake, and the goal is to capture sleep whilst recording brain activity. Activation/Stimulation procedures are performed as part of this test including Photic Stimulation – a series of flashing lights (this can be modified for light sensitive patients or those with sensory issues), which is typically performed at the end of the test to avoid excessive stimulation prior to sleep.
Prolonged Home Video EEG Monitoring
Recordings of between 1 & 7 days. Patient is set up in one of our clinics, and take the equipment home to monitor brain activity over a longer time period in their home environment. Goals are to try and capture episodes of concern; or identify subtle clinical events that may be occurring without the patient, family or carer’s knowledge.
Prolonged Daytime EEG
Recording of 3-6 hours duration to try and capture episodes of concern, or identify subtle clinical events that may be occurring without the patient, family or carer’s knowledge.
Prolonged Overnight Inpatient EEG
Recordings of 1, 2 and 3 Day(s) duration to analyse brain activity over a longer time period. Goals are to try and capture episodes of concern; or identify subtle clinical events that may be occurring without the patient, family or carer’s knowledge. Clinical monitoring by hospital medical and nursing staff for the admission.
